How to get here to join us from the Mainland:
If you want to be independent and are coming from Brisbane we ask you to catch the 9.00am water taxi from Emmett Drive in Cleveland. So this is what you need to do!
For people who are travelling across to Straddie for the day!
For people already on Straddie, we will pick you up from your Island accommodation 08:00am and then go to the water taxi terminal in Dunwich to meet the others coming across by boat from Cleveland.
We all start the tour from here!
For people who are travelling across to Straddie for the day!
- Drive to 12 Emmett Drive and park your car and walk onto the water taxi. Parking is FREE ARRIVE EARLY AS YOU MAY HAVE TO WALK A BLOCK OR TWO AFTER PARKING.
- Catch the 07:00 am (approx) train from Central or Roma Street stations (Monday to Friday and weekends) and go to Cleveland (end of line) arriving at approx 8.22am. Then walk off the station turning right and wait at the bus stop for the 271 bus to arrive.
- Catch the 271 bus to the water taxi terminal at Toondah Harbour (12 Emmett drive in Cleveland) showing the bus driver your train ticket and he will take you straight to the water taxi terminal in time to catch the 08:55 am boat to Dunwich.
- Board the water taxi and when the ticket collector comes around just say you are with "Barefoot Dave" as your tickets have been paid for already.
- I will meet you as you step ashore 20 minutes later at 9.25am after crossing Moreton Bay. Be on the lookout for dolphins and dugongs on the way over.
- We then start the tour from Dunwich...........................EASY!

Morning Tea at Brown Lake Enjoy a cuppa and fresh Aussie damper (with strawberry jam) beside Brown Lake — a peaceful freshwater lake infused with natural Ti‑Tree oils.
Main Beach to Point Lookout Travel along the wide sands of Main Beach, keeping an eye out for dolphins and migrating humpback whales (in season). We stop for photos — and a swim if you’re keen.
North Gorge Lookout Take in breathtaking views from Queensland’s most easterly point. This iconic lookout offers excellent chances to spot whales, dolphins, turtles, manta rays and other marine life.
Flinders Beach BBQ Lunch Relax on the beach while we prepare our famous BBQ lunch: Aussie beef sausages, fresh garden salad, pineapple, beetroot, rice and a refreshing fruit drink.
Beach Walk & Amity Point After lunch, enjoy a stroll along Flinders Beach before heading to Amity Point to look for our resident koalas (with luck, you may spot a baby). Finish with a peaceful walk along the jetty.
Return to Dunwich We drop you back at your pick‑up point in time for the 2:30pm water taxi to Cleveland, arriving around 2:55pm with a day full of wonderful memories.

My boyfriend and I toured Straddie with Dave in 2009, while I was in Oz visiting my fella for the first time. We had a wonderful day--the island is beautiful, lunch was delicious, and the Thelanders could not have been more awesome. Now my fella and I are married, and I know we will go back to Straddie someday. I can't recommend Kingfisher Tours enough!
